The beard history of Muhammad — an argument to challenge the description of Muhammad’s beard in Sihah-Sittah.
What about Abu Lahab and Abu Jahel? Did they have beards too?

Salaa’mun. I just wonder whether those who claim sunnah of the Rasul’s beards, know for sure about the beards of the person they revered for to copy and paste. However, if you ask me, I would say no, because neither Ibn-Hisham’s As-Sirah an-Nabawiyyah, nor has the Kutub-Al-Sittah any reference about the types or forms of the Messenger’s physical beards. However, without having any description to mimic, Islamic tradition has become built on nothing, but an assumption of what someone might have said by so on to so on and on.

Q. 60:4, God described Ibrahim and those with him, who WERE an excellent pattern. So, when Q. 60:4 was revealed Ibrahim and his people were dead and were not in front of the Messenger of the Quran. So, the to be verb كانت (Were) was used to describe a past event and character.

Likewise, in Q. 33:21, the said to be verb is presented in a past tense i.e. كَانَ = Was. So, when Q.33:21 was revealed, whether the Messenger, who was the subject matter and whose pattern was described, alive in front of the primary audience in the vicinity of the revelation. I put both ayats in juxtaposition so that you can think about it.

“There WERE (كَانَتْ) an excellent pattern for you in ABRAHAM AND THOSE WITH HIM, when they said to their people, “We disown you and what you worship apart from Allah. We have disbelieved in you, and enmity and hatred have surfaced between us and you forever until you BELIEVE IN GOD ALONE.” Except for the words of Abraham to his father, “I will ask forgiveness for you, though I cannot protect you from God.” “Our Lord, in You we have placed our trust, and to YOU we have turned penitent, for to You is the destiny”.

[Q. 33:21]لَّقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِى رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ لِّمَن كَانَ يَرْجُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱلْيَوْمَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَ وَذَكَرَ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرًا[Q. 33:21] “There WAS (كَانَ) for you an excellent pattern in the Messenger of God for anyone whose hope WAS (كَانَ) in and the Last Day and remembers God often”.

Let me expose the truth from the words of God as in Surah 59 as follows:[Q.59:6-7] “And whatever God has turned over to HIS Messenger from them, you have prompted neither HORSE nor CAMEL for them, but God gives authority to HIS Messengers over whomever HE wills, and God is All-Powerful over everything.

Whatever God has turned over to HIS Messenger FROM THE PEOPLE OF THE TOWNS, then that is FOR God and FOR the Messenger and FOR the relative and the orphans and the destitute and to the traveler in need, so that IT DOES NOT CIRCULATE EXCLUSIVELY between the WEALTHY among you. And whatever the Messenger brings you—accept it, and whatever he forbids you—abstain from it. And be mindful of God; indeed, God is stern in retribution.
