Namaz is a Persian word came from its Zoroastrian ritual root. In the Quran, nowhere the word prayer is found. Solaa’t is a umbrella word, which is in fact untranslatable in any language. Dua is an expression to call or invoke upon God to make a petition to get HIS help. If this is the case, then the word prayer has no place in the Quran.

The way every religion maintain a prayer system, it provides an offering to God, as the pagan ritualistic offering offers to their god and goddess. The Almighty God does not need anything or any offer from anyone. HE is self-sufficient. We need to uphold the solaa’t and call upon God (dua) relentlessly in every breath we discharge to get HIS help and mercy.

No Namaz, no prayer offering is needed in so far as the central messages in the Quran is concerned. Just being sincere to God, upholding God’s remembrance in hearts and minds and stay connected with HIM (solaa’t) in complying with (suju’d) HIS commands and wish (see: Q. 98:5) — that all we need for the Day to meet God.

98:5

And they have been commanded no more than this: being sincere devotion in Religion for HIM, turning away from all that is false, establishing the Communication and contributing towards Purification. That is the Perfect System of Life.

وَمَا أُمِرُوا إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ حُنَفَاءَ وَيُقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَيُؤْتُوا الزَّكَاةَ ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ دِينُ الْقَيِّمَةِ
